About the Curriculum

Powerful & Proven Prevention Strategies is the third module of the Cancer Free university. It is divided into 18 easy to understand, yet comprehensive interviews with experts. Additionally, you have four bonus interviews with Lizzy Cronin, Frank Cousineau, Shirley Williams and Leigh Erin Connealy, MD. Here is a breakdown of what you can expect from each interview:

Course 1: Vitamin D - Research shows that if people had sufficient levels of vitamin D, the rate of cancer occurrences would be cut in half. Michael Holick, MD, PhD of Boston University Medical Center tells us what it takes to have a healthy level of “the sunshine vitamin” and why it’s such a powerful force for prevention.

Course 2: Molecular Hydrogen Water - Think we know everything there is to know about water? Think again! Paul Barattiero, C.Ped has studied the physics of water and how molecular hydrogen enriched water fuels the human body with life-giving energy and provides healing properties. Learn about its thereupetic benefits.

Course 3: Mitochondria & Epigenetics - Mitochondria may be an unfamiliar word, but it’s crucial to understanding how cancer cells get started. Science writer Travis Christofferson explains what mitochondria are and why they are poised to take center stage in upcoming cancer prevention and treatment.

Course 4: The Gut - Our gut is out of sight and often out of mind. But an epidemic of “leaky gut”, dysbacteriosis, and low stomach acid causes many of us to have a weak immune system and difficulty absorbing what we eat. Gray Graham of the Nutritional Therapy Association tells us in simple terms what can go wrong in the gut and how to make our digestive system healthy.

Course 5: The Grocery Store - Take a walk through the grocery store with Annie Dru, an expert in ancestral cuisine. What are good choices in the meat and produce sections? Is it worth it to buy organic? What kinds of fats are best? What’s the difference between raw and pasteurized dairy? Find out why food is more than just something that can taste good—it transmits information to our genes.

Course 6: Juicing - Vegetables convert light and energy into food. Juicing vegetables gives us a rich dose of natural energy that, in turn, fuels us at a cellular level by energizing our mitochondria. Cherie Calbom, “The Juice Lady,” shares her secrets of which juicers to use, which vegetables and fruits make the best juice, whether to keep the fiber, how to do a juice fast, and more.

Course 7: Fermented Foods - Do you know the difference between a pickled food and a fermented food? The answer will surprise you! Connie Shaw has taken making fermented foods to the professional level. She explains why the sauerkraut in the grocery store may not be a fermented food, even though most of us think it is. Learn how to start making fermented foods at home and how to introduce children to this powerhouse food, a natural source of probiotics.

Course 8: Supplementation - Focusing on the amount of milligrams of any nutrient in a supplement could be a mistake, according to certified nutritional therapist Dusty Lapp. Some vitamins are made from whole foods, and some are made from synthetic substances like coal tar. He invites us to look more deeply behind the scenes into what the body really needs to keep us healthy.

Course 9: EMF's - Today, we are surrounded by an invisible web of electromagnetic signals—EMF’s—from cell phones, wireless networks, and more. And increasingly, people are reporting health problems, including cancer. Is there a connection? A growing number of independent researchers say, yes. Magda Havas, PhD, an environmental toxicologist, tells us what the science shows and explains different ways we can protect ourselves from exposure.

Course 10: Chemicals - Hear from Steve Berry, a professional formulator of personal and home care products, why fragrances and perfumes are probably the worst chemicals we are exposed to on a daily basis. Cleaning products and bathroom lotions and potions also can be loaded with ingredients that play havoc with our nervous system and our immune function. The good news is that “clean” products are easier to find and less expensive than they used to be.

Course 11: Detox - Our body is designed to detox on its own. However, our culture exposes us to 1000 times more chemical toxins than our ancestors dealt with. Plus, we have more stress and more sugar in our diet which depletes our immune system’s resilience. Bruce Fife, CN, ND shares his 5 favorite—and easy—methods of helping the body clear out poisons that build up and contribute to chronic illness.

Course 12: Exercise & Sleep - Most of us know exercise and sleep are really important for our health, and most of us probably don’t get enough of either one. But do we really want to jump out of bed and do an hour of hard cardio in the gym or run 5 miles? Probably not, says Cathy Eason, an expert in exercise science and holistic nutrition. Learn about “functional movement” and why sleep is like “vitamin S” for cancer prevention and treatment.

Course 13: Stress - Did you know that your brain releases chemicals that send messages to the immune system and to our genes? Brenda Stockdale, a pioneer in the field of psychoneuroimmunology, created a scientific program to deal with stress that has been implemented in cancer centers and hospitals. Learn why this successful program says it’s best to tackle stress even before you address nutrition.

Course 14: 7 Key Prevention Strategies - Cancer was not commonplace 100 years ago. But now almost half of us will get a cancer diagnosis in our lifetime. Véronique Desaulniers, DC known better as “Dr. V,” walks us through her “7 Essential Steps” for staying cancer free. She reminds us that cancer is just the symptom, not the cause. Learn steps you can take to keep yourself healthy and disease free.

Course 15: The Fungus Connection - Steven Hines, ND, NE has been working with cancer patients for over 20 years. Learn how to identify a fungal or yeast problem. Dr. Hines explains how an overgrowth of these organisms can have detrimental effects on your health and often has a direct relationship to cancer. Then, learn what to do about it.

Course 16: Cancer Aftercare - Remission! Congratulations! Learn about the important steps that you should consider after you’ve completed the treatment phase. Dr. Gus Kotsansis will design a personalized program to keep you cancer free. Topics include overcoming side effects, balancing hormones, increasing quality of life, imaging, labs, nutritional status, IV and oral supplementation – all to keep you healthy.

Course 17: Cellular Regeneratation - Do you need immune system support? Regeneration? Hear from Dr. Mindee Flippin as she shares testimonies of her patients who have benefited from this very special stem cell therapy.

Course 18: Food for Therapy and Prevention - Susan Silberstein of BeatCancer.org and the Center for Advancement in Cancer Education explains the vital importance that food can play before, during, and after a cancer diagnosis. Susan is the author of numerous books, including Hungry for Health, Hungrier for Health, and the Alphabetical Beat Cancer Diet Guide. Learn how to optimize the power of food and practice the power of prevention.

Course 19: Cold Caps (Bonus) - The trademark of a cancer patient is a bald head, right? But what if you didn’t have to lose your hair? In this bonus interview, Lizzy Cronin demonstrates how to prevent hair loss with the use of a “cold cap” that restricts blood flow to the scalp. Learn about the do-it- yourself versions and the professional version now used in some cancer centers.

Course 20: Cancer Success Stories (Bonus) - Want some encouragement? Hear directly from Leigh Erin Connealy, MD, medical director of the Cancer Center for Healing in Irvine, CA., as she shares stories of victory over cancer.

Course 21: Cancer Control Society | Mexico Clinics (Bonus) - Have you ever wondered why so many people go to Mexico for integrative cancer care? Find out why from Frank Cousineau, President of Cancer Control Society. Be encouraged as he talks about the benefits and resources that are available.

Course 22: Whole Life Alpine Wellness Center (Bonus) - Learn how Whole Life Wellness Center in Alpine, Texas is making health and wellness simple, affordable, and accessible. Be inspired by the testimonies.
